Bolzano is the venue for this year’s 73rd AIEST Conference of Ideas. Between August 25 and 28, 2024, tourism experts from across the globe will convene in South Tyrol.

Hosted by the Center for Advanced Studies at Eurac Research and held at the Free University of Bolzano-Bozen, the conference will feature discussions centered around three streams:

  1. designing tourism systems for a sustainable future,
  2. cultural differences as enabler for transformation and innovation and
  3. AIEST’s advances in tourism research-perspectives of actors, institutions and systems.

The conference encourages diverse contributions from participants across various scientific disciplines and tourism-related industries, spanning four main sub-streams: Actors' Behavior, Institutional Settings, Systemic Perspective, and an open category for contributions not classified in the aforementioned sub-streams.

Established in 1951, the International Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism (AIEST) is committed to enhancing the global travel and tourism sector by examining trends, staying abreast of the latest developments, and providing proactive solutions to emerging challenges. The AIEST includes members from diverse academic and practical backgrounds, including both junior and senior professionals. The annual AIEST conference serves as a platform to provide an opportunity for regular, amicable interactions among experts worldwide, facilitating international exchange of scientific and practical knowledge.
