The Covid-19 pandemic has a clear impact on minority communities, on dynamics between centres and peripheries, and on inter-state relations.
The immediate reactions to the pandemic included a “war rhetoric” with an explicit or tacit requirement of loyalty and obedience, closure of borders, and centralization from the territories to the centre and from parliaments to executives.
The pandemic shows time and again that there is no one-size-fit-all solution for cultural and territorial governance.
In 10 episodes, livestreamed on zoom and available on the Institute’s YouTube Channel and Facebook page, we hosted over 30 experts from academia and beyond.
We discussed a wide range of issues related to minorities and the pandemic:
- equality and discrimination
- territorial governance and inter-state relations
- religious minorities and indigenous peoples
- gender equality
- economic aspects of the pandemic and its impacts on diversity governance
The webinars attracted almost 2000 viewers, with the most popular episodes attracting 150 zoom attendees and over 600 viewers on youtube and facebook.
