Welcome to the Center for Biomedicine!

At the Center for Biomedicine we are performing biomedical research into how the origin and the development of diseases are influenced by genetic disposition, by environmental factors and by individual lifestyles. Currently we are focusing our research on diseases within the broad areas of Neuromedicine and Cardiovascular medicine. Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Bioinformatics are crucial to what we do, and in these fields we promote methodological development alongside practical application. By bringing these fields together with molecular research methods we try to consolidate medicine, biology and technology under one umbrella.

We are a newly founded biomedical research institution of the European Academy Bolzano-Bozen in close partnership with the South Tyrolean Healthcare System. Our close cooperation with the local healthcare system puts us into the unique position to ensure targeted and coordinated health-related research efforts in South Tyrol.

The Center for Biomedicine is largely funded from the Department for Promotion of Educational Policies, Universities and Research of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano-South Tyrol.
