Ikar Cisa international meeting In Sweden, Are, 2011

It is with great pride that the Swedish Civil Mountain Rescuers Organisation(CIFRO), the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the Swedish National Police Service extend a warm welcome to you to attend the 2011 ICAR-CISA congress in Sweden. The venue will be Åre in the province of Jämtland. Åre is well known as Scandinavia’s alpine sports capital and has hosted the World Alpine Ski Championships and a number of international congresses and events.   The theme for the 2011 congress is “Preventive Safety in the Mountains”. This reflects the approach we have adopted here in Sweden to cope with the challenges posed by our extended and often difficult-to-access mountain range. By working closely together and collaborating in spreading information, we are able to greatly improve the likelihood that EVERYONE who visits the Swedish mountains is well aware of the situation. That is our strategy for preventing accidents – an approach that, in the long term, helps reduce the number of emergency calls to our mountain rescue teams. Preventive safety in the mountains has aroused a great deal of interest among ICAR-CISA member countries, and we look forward to continuing and developing the discussions on this theme in Åre.

The Institute of Mountain Emergency Medicine will participate actively in the conference.
