1d/2018: Comparison of the Macro-Regional Strategies of the European Union (PhD)
01.11.2017 - 31.10.2020
The aim of the research is to contribute to the current debate on the future of the European integration by examination of the relatively new form of territorial cooperation- macro-regional strategies (MRS).
The success of this model depends much on the desire of the Member states and regions to interact and develop long-term arrangements. Macro-regions, not becoming a new institutional body between the EU and the Member States, operate as a cooperation tool between regions, Member States and the EU, enabling regions to design, implement and manage the EU regional policies.
This research is the PhD project of Irina Lapenkova in the Doctoral Programme of the School for International Studies of the University of Trento. Eurac Research is financing her scholarship for this research project.
Related project at the institute is “European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino” as well as the extensive research focus on cross-border cooperation. http://www.eurac.edu/en/research/projects/Pages/projectdetail3885.aspx
