Eco & soft mobility through innovative and optimized network of cross-border natural and cultural ways
02.04.2018 - 30.09.2020
ABSTRACT

EMOTIONWay aims at solving three problems in the cross-border area:

  • difficult access to some sites of natural and cultural interest by hikers and cyclists caused by bad connections between cycleways and tourist sites (Points of Interest)
  • limited bicycle-bus/bicycle-train inter-modality servicing trails and cycleways
  • low visibility of some sites due to lack of information on how to reach them, unsuitable services and untapped natural sites

The aim of the project is to increase the accessibility of cultural and other sites for hikers and cyclists and to ameliorate the connections of intermodal bicycle/bus and bicycle/train offers, through the creation of cross-border services of local public transport. Furthermore, the project aims at improving the cross-border network of hiking trails and cycleways within the Eastern Alps (ReCAO).

The geographic focus of the activities comprises the provinces of Udine, Trieste, Gorizia, Pordenone, Belluno and Treviso, as well as the Upper Carinthia and the western part of Central Carinthia. In the medium run, better access to sites is expected due to more integrated intermodal services, an increase in tourist flows due to service quality and better site visibility, while decreasing the environmental impact of tourism and traffic.
