The goal of the ESF-project MigraData is to thoroughly study the ways of cultural, social and economic integration of the main immigrant populations dwelling in the province of Bolzano Bozen.

This is happening in two ways, along with the two project phases:

Phase 1

Analytical Research on the foreign population residing in the province of Bolzano Bozen coming from low-income countries and countries with high migration pressure.

A first social survey on this topic was published in February 2007 by the Monitoring centre on immigration of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Bozen. A few years later it is interesting to repeat the research in order to find out and analyze which aspects of the life of a migrant in South Tyrol has changed in which direction.

The research is carried out by means of a structured questionnaire in which different topics are explored: the migration process, the living conditions, the work, the family situation, the interaction with the local context and the future projects.

Phase 2

First Yearly Report about the immigration in the province of Bolzano Bozen

This is meant to become an essential tool for everyone who wants to know the characteristics of the migration phenomenon in the province of Bolzano Bozen from a mainly quantitative and statistical point of view. The Report is even more important and innovative for the province of Bolzano Bozen because, different to other Italian provinces or regions, the South Tyrolean territory has never had such a Report. Methodologically the Report will be written by means of an information flow coming from the network of social, health and educational services in the province as well as from a variety of local sources.
